It bodes well, it was suggested that a monthly “social” evening could be a possibility. I think that this would be a good idea and we would be able get to know one another even better than we are able to at our regular lodge meetings W.Bro. Maurice has made a great effort in setting this up, it is very easy and only requires logging in to the Member’s section and clicking on Web Browser in the menu so much easier than Zoom. Thank you Maurice, well done. Sydney Aynsworth
Brethren of Alwarestoch lodge
I have spent some time on dining research and I offer the following for discussion.
Wbro Ray Bezani has contacted me and apologised profusely for the meal we had last Wednesday. He has also castigated the MD of his catering arm.
He has offered a £90 refund to be paid into the MCF or as a discount off our next meal. I wait to be advised of the feeling of the members as to how to reply to this.
As mentioned before I intend to book through Matt Hewitt for our next meeting in April which will be an initiation.
Moving onwards I note that with third degree ceremonies we tend to be late sitting down to dine. Speaking personally as an OAP and diabetic, I find eating late and four courses too much for me. As such although I eat the starter and main, I cannot manage the dessert and cheese and biscuits. When I entered masonry
36 years ago I would have done serious damage to all four courses!
Some of will know that Kerry cooks for the side orders and is able to offer three courses for £10 and is willing to scale up for 25-30 covers which is what we are currently ordering. She will cook pretty much anything we care to order and is prepared to be flexible when we are late, slow getting the numbers in, getting cancellations or no shows etc. sadly all of this happens EVERY meeting.
I think the professional masons who eat out every night might also like a night of lighter fare such as VGO’s senior provincial officers etc.
As a proposal how about the important meetings to impress such as install, initiation, provincial visits etc being a full 4 course meal. The second and third degrees we look at maybe a slightly scaled down meal and consequent cheaper cost?
As a final item don’t forget we are having a Sunday lunch Sunday week (27th) feb with Rowner and I would like to put at least a. Oue of tables on as our contribution. I await bookings as soon as possible please as we can’t mess this caterer around. There will be a roast dinner (not chicken Jason) followed by a music quiz and some games.
Jason please can you send this as a round robin ? Brethren please feel free to let me know your thoughts.
